JAMES ALAN GEORGE BIO
Before a life dedicated to filmmaking, I tried keeping a straight face whilst running lines with Monty Python, curated an art exhibition on Soviet constructivism, joined avant-garde music performances in Tokyo, marketed and distributed independent Korean films, and wrote movie reviews for a poetry journal. This peculiar cross-pollination broadened my own cinematic vision and ambition.
As a writer-director I’ve found myself documenting Indri in the jungles of Madagascar, filming fast cars vrooming across Arabian desert, and loitering in more green screen studios than I should admit. Truthfully, I’m happiest whenever there’s some human performance in the mix too – and through it all I’ve been blessed to collaborate with some of the industry's finest technicians and artists.
I had the honour of beginning my career working with the late Alan Dewhurst – co-founder of Passion Pictures, producer of an Academy Award-winning featurette – and together forming a production company. Now, as an independent filmmaker based in London, I relish uncovering whatever is needed to tell a client’s singular story, touch the audience, and make the most of available resources. My approach transcends sectors and cultures and has taken me around the world for films large and small.
